Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why is your site called 'My-Serendipity'

It started when a friend suggested I watch a movie called 'Serendipity'.  I loved the movie and the sound of the title, so I looked up it's definition.

"The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident"

Orginally the site was dedicated to all my 'fortunate discoveries' - it's been slowly narrowed and focuses now on Hayden Christensen, Star Wars, and The West Wing television series.

Q:  What happened to your Backstreet Boys pages?

I am still a big fan of both Aaron & Nick Carter as well as The Backstreet Boys, but I simply can't keep up with them as well as I'd like.  There is a fantastic site called 'Not-Like-You.com' and I recommend it to everyone wanting to follow Nick or BSB.  Its updated daily, has great multimedia and picture galleries.

I did add back a few Backstreet pages just for fun.  You can find them here.

Q:  The videos don't play - what am I doing wrong?

Chances are - probably nothing.  The videos are best viewed when they are not played directly from the website.  Before you start to worry, first start by saving them to your computer.  Use the far right button on your mouse, click on any video link.  A small menu should appear.  Choose 'Save Target As' to save it to your computer.  Once the download is complete, the download window should have a button that says 'Open' - that should launch the video.

Q:  I've saved it to my computer and it still won't play.

First, make sure you have the right player for the various formats found on the website and that all are running the most recent versions:

  • .wmv, .asx and .asf files requires Windows Media Player, available for free download here
  • .rm and .ram files require Real Player, available for free download here
  • .mov and .avi files require Quicktime, available for free download here

If you have a Macintosh and want to watch the .wmv files, you need special player, available here

If they still don't work or if you get an error - email me with the error and I'll try and help.

Q:  Do you know Hayden?

Gosh, if only that particular dream could come true.  No, I don't know him - like you, I'm just a fan.  I think he's an amazing talent and I enjoy providing a place to showcase his career and range in roles.

That said the cosmos has been kind to me.  I had one dreamlike moment at Star Wars Celebration 3 where I was one of only 8 people who could ask him a question by phone from Italy while he was filming The Decameron.  Hearing him say "Hi Michelle, how are you doing?" was QUITE the memorable moment for me.

As if that wasn't enough - I happened to be in Reno when he and his hot lamborgini came into town with the rest of the Bull Run Racers and did actually MEET him and get a picture and an autograph.  My Reno pictures are here, part of the write up is here, and for proof that my imagination isn't running on overdrive - here is our picture...
